Claiming the Land: The Vision Behind Tent Maker Properties

For years, I’ve lived in the tension of being both a pastor and a real estate agent. As a “tent maker" I share the Apostle Paul's conviction that I never want money to be an obstacle to the Gospel of Christ (1 Cor 9:12) - and this has been a blessing, allowing me to serve in ways that I could not have otherwise. But, I’ve been intentional about keeping those worlds separate, never wanting to distract from my pastoral calling with my professional work. But recently, as I’ve led our church through the journey of finding a per
manent home in Green Valley Ranch, the Lord began to stir something new in my heart.
He showed me that the decades I’ve spent in real estate — including commercial — weren’t just a career. They were preparation. Preparation for a mission: to use my tent making business as a ministry in itself, connecting churches and nonprofits across the Denver Metro area, locking shields and arms to claim the land for Jesus.
The Challenge Churches Face
Even with over 20 years of experience in real estate, I’ve found that navigating the commercial market in Denver as a church is incredibly difficult. The deck often feels stacked against ministries and nonprofits. The process is overwhelming, the costs are high, and the system isn’t built with Kingdom work in mind.
And yet, there are resources available — Christian builders, CPAs, attorneys, lenders, grants, and endowments — all designed to support churches. The problem isn’t that help doesn’t exist. It’s that most real estate professionals don't know that the resources exist and most pastors and church leaders don’t know how to access or use them.
As pastors and church leaders, we’re not trained in real estate. In fact, the idea of “growing the church business” can feel worldly or insincere. But when God gives us a vision to expand, when He provides the resources to put down roots, we have to engage with the practical realities of buying, leasing, and stewarding property.
A Kingdom-Minded Partner
Most churches either try to figure it out on their own or hand the process off to a commercial agent or banker. And while many of them are skilled, ethical — and even believers — there’s something powerful about partnering with someone who shares your heart for the Gospel.
Imagine working with someone who:
Knows the real estate market inside and out
Understands the unique challenges of managing a church
Can creatively repurpose commercial space for ministry
Will pray with you through the process
Can pull together the right resources to get a deal done — for Kingdom purposes
That’s the heart behind Tent Maker Properties.
More Than a Business — A Mission
This isn’t just about helping churches find buildings. It’s about building the Church. It’s about stewarding the land God has given us, using every square foot for His glory, and creating a network of ministries that support one another.
Tent Maker Properties is my way of turning a career into a calling — of using my tent making business not just to support ministry, but to carry out ministry.
If you’re a pastor, church leader, or nonprofit decision-maker in the Denver Metro area, I’d love to connect. Whether you’re looking for space, have space to share, or just want to talk about what’s possible — let’s link arms and claim this land together.
